Welcome to the home page of the Irish College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ICTCM).

The ICTCM is the first College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Ireland.
Since 1983 we have pioneered professional TCM training:

  • First, in Acupuncture (Licentiate in Traditional Chinese Medicine).
  • Then, in Chinese Herbal Medicine.
  • More recently, since 2006, in Medical Qigong.

Professional Acupuncture training - the Lic.TCM Course - A Summary:
The Course is:

  • 3 years
  • Part-time
  • Weekends only (Saturday and Sunday).
  • 12 main teaching weekends each year.
  • Held in Dublin.
  • There is home study, assignments, open-learning modules, point location and clinical workshops.
  • It is recognised by the PRTCM (See below).
  • It is designed for adults wishing to change career.
  • Graduates are qualified to take up professional practice of Acupuncture TCM in Ireland or the UK.
  • Graduates can join the Professional body, the PRTCM and be recognised by VHI, Quinn Healthcare and Aviva.
  • This is the 27th year we have been running this course.
  • We have had successful graduates every year since we began.

NEWS FROM CHINA – in December 2005 The ICTCM signed an historic agreement with Guangzhou University of TCM (GZUTCM) in China to run a joint Masters Degree Programme, (mainly in Ireland) leading to a Master of Medicine Degree conferred by GZUTCM.

Qualified Practitioners of Acupuncture and TCM in Ireland
The Professional Register of Traditional Chinese Medicine (PRTCM) is the first professional body representing and regulating the profession of Acupuncture and TCM in Ireland. It was founded in 1983 and is currently taking part, under the auspices of the Department of Health and Children, in a Steering Group on Acupuncture and a Steering Group on Herbal Medicine.
